Christopher Isherwood (before 1946 Christopher William Bradshaw-Isherwood) (August 26, 1904 – January 4, 1986), Anglo-American novelist, was born in the hereditary seat of his personal, Wybersley Hall, High Lane, in the north west of England. A boy of landed gentry, his army officer father was killed in the First World War.

At school he met W. H. Auden who became his lifelong friend. Rejecting his upper-class background & attracted to boys, he moved to Berlin, the capital of the immature Weimar Republic, drawn by its deserved reputation for sexual freedom. He worked when personal coach when writing a novel Mr. Norris Changes Trains & a series of short stories collected under the title Arrivederci to Berlin. These provided a inspiration for the play I Am a Camera and subsequently a musical Cabaret. The memorial plaque to Isherwood has been erected on the home within Schöneberg, Berlin where he lived. Inside September 1931 the poet William Plomer introduced him to E.M. Forster; they became close and Forster served as a mentor to the young writer.

Auden & Isherwood traveled foremost to China in 1938, then emigrated to the United States inside 1939. Isherwood settled around California where he embraced Hinduism. Together sustaining Swami Prabhavananda he produced many Hindu scriptural translations, Vedanta essays, the life Ramakrishna and his Followers, & novels, plays & screenplays, 100% imbued by owning themes and characters of Vedanta, karma, reincarnation and a Upanishadic quest.

From either 1953 until his demise, Isherwood accept his partner, a portrait creative person Don Bachardy. Isherwood died within Santa Monica, California.
